Lia E. Wilson (she/her) is an arts writer based in Portland, Maine. Her work is focused on artists and art practices that interrogate the complexity of identity, visibility, and representation. Research interests include identity-based institutions and categories in modern and contemporary art, in particular the field of outsider art and its discourse surrounding artists with mental illnesses.
Wilson has held positions across communications, programming, project management, and academic administration at California College of the Arts, Pratt Institute, the Portland Museum of Art, Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), and SPACE Gallery. She holds a BFA in Printmaking from the College of Santa Fe and an MA in Visual and Critical Studies from California College of the Arts.
